People matter. Country before party.

The power of the many
should not be relinquished
to the few

Working together isn't about compromising your beliefs — it's about finding paths to progress that none of us can reach alone.

Discover the Movement

Division has become a tool of control.

For years, political division — much of it manufactured and amplified by those in power — has caused many of us to give up our voice. We've been sorted into camps, pitted against neighbors, and told that the other side is the enemy. Meanwhile, the real decisions get made by a shrinking circle of the powerful.

But most of us — regardless of party — want the same basic things for our lives, our families, and our country. That What we share still exists, it has just been buried beneath cries of outrage.

"Democracy works best when citizens and leaders work together to solve problems — not when they compete to tear each other down."

Act on our values — not try to erase each other's.

Listen before you respond

Real dialogue starts with understanding, not winning. Hearing someone out is not surrender — it's the foundation of progress.

Judge ideas, not identities

The best solutions come from wherever they come from. Political labels are a shortcut that too often leads nowhere.

Demand more from leaders

Hold your representatives accountable — not for their party loyalty, but for their ability to actually govern and deliver results.

Live it in your daily life

Change doesn't start in Washington. It starts in conversations at your kitchen table, your community center, and your workplace.

You don't need to join anything.
Just start living it.

Solutions Over Sides is not an organization. There is no membership, no dues, no mailing list. It lives in the hearts and minds of people who believe that working together leads somewhere better.

Share the idea. Have the harder conversation. Ask your representatives to work across the aisle. Show your kids what that looks like.

What This Movement Is

Solutions Over Sides is a social movement that began in 2025, brought together by people with a wide range of political views. What unites them is a simple belief: people and communities matter. Most of us — regardless of party — want the same basic things for our lives and our country.

The goal is to push back against the growing divide in our society — to restore honest conversations that lead to real solutions, and to rebuild the trust and respect we have for one another at a time when democracy feels genuinely at risk.

"Do citizens truly feel heard by the people they elect? Years of political division have left many wondering whether the power of the many is being relinquished to the few."

What We Believe

We want to see a day when our leaders put country before party, before donors, and before political games. We'd love to see politicians compete to show how well they can work with each other, not how effectively they can tear each other down.

Compromise doesn't mean splitting the difference. It means truly listening and finding a way forward that works — for more people, in more places, over the long run.

How It Lives

Solutions Over Sides lives in the hearts and minds of people. There is no organization to join. There is no one to donate to. Join simply by living it. Show your parents, your kids, your neighbors that working together leads somewhere better.

Tell the honest stories of our time through the music you make, the films you watch, the art you create. Share this motto and logo in whatever way feels right to you — in your email signature, your shop window, or on a community bulletin board.

Behind the Stare was created to support Solutions Over Sides — a social movement for people who believe that working together produces better outcomes than fighting each other produces. That belief crosses every political line.

This site is not the headquarters of an organization. It is a resource — a place to understand the idea, find the people already doing this work, and discover concrete ways to carry it forward in your own life.

Why "Behind the Stare"?

When two people stare across a divide, what's behind that look? Mostly the same things: worry about the future, love for their families, frustration that things aren't working, and hope that they still could. The stare is the surface. What's behind it is what we share.

What This Site Is

A place to understand the Solutions Over Sides movement, explore the broader ecosystem of bridging organizations, and find your own way to participate. Nothing to join. Nothing to buy. Just ideas to carry forward.
